Get involved at Her Land
There are many different ways that you can get involved in Her Land. These are listed below. Volunteers are able to commit to support as much or as little as they can. Activities currently include:
Individuals
- Thriving in Nature: a weekly session where you can get out into nature and reduce your stress levels by taking part in activities on site that will improve your physical and mental health, allow you to meet like-minded people, and learn new skills. The sessions currently run every Tuesday morning during term time from 9.30am - 11.30am. We also run a session on the fourth Sunday of each month from 2pm-4pm. More details on these are outlined in the 'Thrive in Nature' section at the bottom of this page.
- Marketing, Social Media, Website: We want to get the word out more about our project and have a small team of people helping to achieve this. At the moment we need graphic design support and help withwebsite updates and regular social media posting.
- Fundraising: We need support to write funding applications, help to run fundraising events, help to shape and deliver Crowdfunder campaigns.
- Advocates: We would love to hear from women who would be willing to learn more about the project and then raise awareness of it in their networks and workplaces.
Partners
If you would be interested in working in partnership with Her Land, and setting up a project that supports the work you do, then please get in contact by emailing clare@herland.co.uk
Businesses
We regularly host groups of women from local businesses for a morning out of their workplace helping at one of our Thrive in Nature sessions on Tuesday mornings. If this doesnt work we can explore other days of the week. We are also looking for businesses who may like to help out by sponsoring projects being delivered on Her Land. Contact becky@herland.co.uk about either of these opportunities.

Thrive in Nature
Activities included in the Thriving in Nature programme at the moment are focused on clearing and laying out the Her Land site. These include:
- Digging with hand tools
- Planting trees
- Cutting back undergrowth
- Using wheelbarrows
- Using a brushcutter (training provided)
- Laying paths with cardboard and woodchip
- Picking up, cleaning and stacking bricks
- Carrying logs
- Moving tyres
- Creative projects to help signpost the site
- and more...
Please only apply if you feel confident that you have the physical fitness and ability to engage in most of these activities. If you face an activity that you do not feel comfortable participating in at a session please make sure that you communicate this clearly to your group leader at the time.
Site accessibility:
We are keen to develop an inclusive environment at Her Land and are seeking to build a disability-positive space. However, at the moment, the site has a lot of uneven ground and therefore you will need to be steady on your feet to be able to participate in the programme. If you think there are reasonable adjustments that could be made to allow you to access the programme please let us know so we can strive to support them. Email becky@herland.co.uk to discuss further if needed.
First aid:
Please note that there may not be a first aid trained person on site during each session. However, group leaders will have access to a first aid kit for you to self administer. In case of emergencies the relevant emergency service will be contacted.
If you are happy to proceed and to take part in our Thriving in Nature activities or register as a general volunteer, please fill in the form below. We will only accept registrations from women (she/her), however we plan to open up the site for everyone to enjoy during weekends in 2025.
